Dr. Narae Kim, a recent Ph.D. graduate of Yonsei’s School of Integrated Technology, has been named one of “Ten Women in Networking/Communications That You Should Watch” by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers(IEEE) and the Association for Computing Machinery(ACM). The award recognizes rising international scholars in the field, and Dr. Kim was the only recipient from Korea.

Dr. Kim receive her doctoral degree on August 26. With her mentor, Professor Chan-byoung Chae from School of Integrated Technology, Dr. Kim has conducted important research in the field of molecular communication. She has received several awards for her scholarship, including the Human-Tech Journal Gold Award, IEEE INFOCOM Best Demo Award, and IITO Creative Talent Award. She has also received an IEEE Travel Grant three times.

Dr. Kim will now continue her research in Singapore, having obtained a post-doctoral fellowship there. Of her recent recognition by the IEEE/ACM, she said: “I am very honored to be on the same list as globally renowned scholars. I plan to continue researching and achieve meaningful and valuable research results.”

Chan-Byoung Chae, professor from School of Integrated Technology at Yonsei University says Na-Rae, Kim has made significant contribution to emerging communications by conducting novel researches and shaping the standards. “Na-Rae’s contributions to the foundations of molecular communication are impressive, particularly the physical layer design and the channel measurement/modeling.” Chae says.
