About

Greetings

Constant global change provides those who teach and study science and technology with a long list of new challenges. As Information and Communications Technology (ICT) develops and plays a key role in academic and industrial circles, challenging issues are arising in virtually every aspect of our lives including health, the environment, security, and energy. The situation demands drastic and fundamental changes in research and education that promote collaboration among scientists and experts in art, the humanities, social sciences, and design, thereby educating talented students of the need for consilience.
Yonsei University established the “Yonsei Institute of Convergence Technology” at the Yonsei International Campus in 2010 and was chosen by the Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning to implement the government’s “IT Consilience Creative Program.”

The program will be funded up to 120 million dollars over the course of 10 years. YICT, in cooperation with Yonsei College of Engineering, has created the “School of Integrated Technology” and systematically connected convergence education and research based on ICT. This is a positive characteristic of our IT Creative Consilience Program. The convergence environment has changed significantly since 2010, when YICT was launched here at Yonsei International Campus. We will concentrate not only on conducting research that will improve the quality of life and deliver value-added products and services, but also on cultivating problem-solvers who can lead innovative research projects. This successful progress marks our university as one of the world’s best institutions that are meeting the demands of our times. We are simultaneously trying to expand our base into the fields of humanities, social sciences, design, and medicine. Everyone at YICT promises to be with you as we move into the future. We hope you will join our ambitious venture, and share our vision and dream.

Thank you.

Gunhee Han, Ph. D.
